How are latex balloons made?

2024-12-16

The manufacture of latex balloons by Borun Balloon Factory is mainly made through the following steps:

The main material is natural latex (usually extracted from rubber trees), which is an all-natural degradable material, as well as other additives to enhance elasticity and color:

1. Latex preparation

- Collection of natural latex: Natural latex is a milky white liquid extracted from the bark of rubber trees, which is the raw material for the production of balloons.

- Preliminary processing of latex: Filter natural latex to remove impurities and improve the quality of latex, add antioxidants, softeners and colorants, so that it has better elasticity, durability and color after aeration.

2. Prepare the balloon mold

- Use balloon shaped molds and give matching to the relevant sizes and shapes usually made of ceramic or glass material molds. The size and shape of all latex balloons are determined by this step.

- The surface of the balloon mold will be coated with a release agent to make the balloon fall off the easy mold (usually using non-toxic and harmless talc), so that the balloon is easier to fall off the mold after production, and reduce the damage during the production process.

3. Dipping process

- Dip the mold into the latex tank, the latex will be uniformly attached to the surface of the balloon mold, and the balloon will be initially formed.

- After lifting the mold, let it rest so that the latex drips and forms a uniform film, so that the shape and size of the balloon are determined.

- If multiple layers of balloons are required, the balloon mold can be repeated several times to form a multi-layer film.

4. Preliminary vulcanization

- After dipping, the semi-finished latex balloon on the mold is sent to a heated area, where hot steam is used to Prepare to sell and the balloon is initially completed.

- Through heat treatment, the molecular chains in the latex are cross-linked, which increases the elasticity and strength of the balloon, making the balloon less likely to burst and more uniform in shape after it is inflated.

5. Dyeing and finishing

- After the Preliminary vulcanization is completed, the balloon mold is further immersed into the dyeing tank to achieve the final color, producing the balloon in the custom color.

- At the edge of the balloon (usually the balloon nozzle part), excess latex from the balloon mold will be trimmed or rimmed.

6. Vulcanization completed

- The balloon is vulcanized by a final heat, ensuring that the latex is fully cross-linked and achieves optimal physical properties.

- This step also sterilizes the balloon and improves safety.

7. Fall off the mold

- After cooling, the balloon is stripped from the mold and the balloon manufacturing process completes the final step.

8. Quality inspection

- Perform a quality test on the balloon to ensure that the balloon is free of breakage, holes or other defects.

9.Prepare to sell

- The final balloons are packaged in a custom way, sorted by size, color and quantity, and delivered to the customer for sale.
